  Student Engineering & Design Community Available for Middle- and High- School Students and Teachers

Autodesk recently announced the launch of its new online community designed to enhance middle- and high-school student learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Teachers who join will have access to popular 2D and 3D design software and teaching and learning resources.

Middle- and high-school students will benefit from access to the same 3D design software used by industry professionals with free student versions of Autodesk software.

TeacherTube

TeacherTube is the latest extension to the popular YouTube video-sharing website. Viewers can learn about everything including history, science, and music all through instructional video.

One of the most popular TeacherTube videos stars Mrs. Burk, who raps to her math lessons. Students can also show off their talents by posting their video projects.

Autodesk Inventor Student Design Contest Winner

A team led by Michael Piersa has been announced the contest winner for the month of June for the Autodesk Inventor Student Design Contest. They designed a "Wheelchair for the 21st Century" that has significant improvements over many current wheelchairs that includes an innovative frame design and transmission to create a new level of stability and maneuverability.

The team of students are part of the Biomedical Equipment Students' Scientific Association at the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland and have recently submitted two patent requests to the Polish Patent Department.

Lamelson-MIT InvenTeams National Grants

The Lamelson-MIT Program provides national grants through the Lamelson-MIT InvenTeams to foster inventiveness among high school students. Grants of up to $10,000 support each team's initiatives.

High school students, teachers and mentors form the InvenTeams to identify a problem, research the problem and develop a prototype invention. Since its inception in 2002, InvenTeams continues to expand each year and awarded 20 national grants in 2006.

The Summer 2007 training course catalog can be downloaded from the IMAGINiT Technologies web site or contact your local office for a copy. Course descriptions and registration are available online for your convenience.

IMAGINiT now offers on-demand training. Don't see the class you need in our scheduled list of training courses? Your class may be available on-demand at your local IMAGINiT Training Center. To run an on-demand class we require a minimum of three people. Contact us for availability.
