Project Lead The Way

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is a hands-on project and problem based approach that adds rigor to traditional technical programs and relevance to traditional academics. There are locations throughout the United States with programs for middle school and high school students.

Through the development of a four-year sequence of courses by PLTW combined with college preparatory courses, students are introduced to the discipline of engineering and engineering technology prior to entering college. Students are also able to earn College Credits.

Public Wants More Technology in Classrooms

In a report recently released by Cisco®, Americans understand that fundamental changes must be made to the U.S. educational system if the country is to remain competitive in the 21st-century.

The survey, "Education Attitudes 2007," conducted by Zogby International revealed that the majority of Americans believe technology is an important factor in connecting schools to their communities, as well as in leveling the playing field among more and less affluent schools by providing equal access to educational content.

While Americans recognize that understanding science and technology is important to success in the 21st-century workforce, they are not prepared to base student grads on collaboration skills by shifting coursework away from individual achievement. Of the 7,000 Americans surveyed across the U.S., only 32% support a grading system that teaches students how to work in groups.
