Success Story: Navisworks Assists Yankee Stadium Construction
Turner Construction Company used Autodesk's Navisworks Manage software to help complete the new Yankee Stadium. As part of the construction management process known as Virtual Trade Coordination, Turner used the latest BIM [building information modeling] processes and Autodesk's Revit software with Navisworks Manage software to help collaboration among subcontractors.
"Turner is experiencing tremendous growth in the use of BIM during both preconstruction and construction phases as a tool to help us dramatically improve the building process while reducing field initiated RFIs and changes," said Jim Barrett, manager of virtual construction technologies for Turner Construction. "The Yankee Stadium project typifies our commitment to BIM and the tangible and measurable benefits we -- and more importantly, our clients -- are experiencing in schedule, quality, cost and safety improvements on all our BIM projects across the United States."
The company has already managed more than 100 BIM-based projects at an estimated value of $20 billion, as well as purchasing and using 400 licenses of Navisworks Manage throughout the firm.
BIM design software was used to create 3D models of every major building component in the stadium -- from architectural and structural elements to HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
Navisworks Manage software enhanced the review process by enabling design and construction management professionals to aggregate existing design data for visualization, simulate scheduling, and identify interferences to improve productivity and project quality.

Green Design: Autodesk Fights Climate Change
Autodesk announced at the Seoul C40 Large Cities Climate Summit 2009 that it is providing visualization software for Project Two Degrees. This is an Internet-based application that provides cities with a set of tools to measure, compare, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the local level.
The project's Web-based software enables cities to calculate the carbon footprint of municipal operations, and then plan actions to save energy and money. In an initial pilot phase, a group of the world's largest cities will be the first to be invited to use the project's emissions tracking software.
Autodesk initially provided MapGuide Enterprise to view, evaluate, and compare the results of analysis and monitoring in the cities. The company also provided building performance analysis tools to help cities take meaningful actions in curbing local and regional impacts from climate change, and can help save money, conserve energy, and track tangible progress. www.project2degrees.org
