  Blog: Starting with Inventor Tooling

IMAGINiT's Manufacturing Solutions Blogger, Mark Flayler, shares his insight on Autodesk's manufacturing software including Inventor, Mechanical Desktop and Mechanical. In this month's newsletter, Mark shares an excerpt of his blog:

Today we look at two whitepapers brought to us by our newest member to our mechanical team, Matt Jaworski. The first paper describes Autodesk Inventor Tooling's ability to obtain a suitable material for the Plastic Analysis and Tooling creation for Plastic Parts:

"One of the beginning steps in using Autodesk Inventor Tooling is searching for and selecting an appropriate plastic material for your part's particular application. This is an important step as different materials will process and behave very differently from one another, which will in turn effect how the injection mold is designed and constructed.

"You may have an idea of what general material family you may want to consider or a specific resin that you want to select. In either case, read on for some tips to help you quickly select your intended plastic material for AIT."

Blog: Inventor Training Addendum: Placing Features on Cylindrical Shapes

IMAGINiT's Manufacturing Solutions Blogger, Mark Flayler, shares his insight on Autodesk's manufacturing software including Inventor, Mechanical Desktop and Mechanical. In this month's newsletter, Mark shares an excerpt of his blog:

Occasionally I get requests for streamlined training material that is not that are not part of our normal training program. This one comes from Introduction to Solid Modeling students wanting to do more with cylindrical features but not finding their obvious choice in the feature commands. This paper will streamline the different work flows discussed in our intro training classes.

Green Design: Solar-powered Bus Signs

Bus riders know when the next several buses will arrive with Syncromatics’ solar-powered transit signs, developed with Autodesk's Inventor software. Being solar-powered means that power lines don't need to be fed to each bus stop.

The American company uses Inventor to understand how its products will probably operate in the varying weather conditions -- how much windload they can bear and how much variance in movement they can withstand.

"We can model a full assembly, see how it's going to perform, and catch any mistakes ahead of time before anything has been built." says Stephen Salazar, ceo of Syncromatics. "That saves us a lot of time and money -- and earns customer respect."

Syncromatics specializes in bus tracking, automated passenger counting, passenger information systems, and route analytics. www.syncromatics.com
