Testimonial: IMAGINiT Helps Implement Autodesk Revit with HHCP

IMAGINiT Technologies helped Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock/Architects (HCCP), an architectural firm specializing in health care facility design, improve utilization and consistency across their division by implementing Autodesk Revit. This involved providing software installation, training, specific industry design process support, and migration support.

As a result, HHCP reduced the number of requests for information, increased creativity, increased design productivity by 50%, and implemented significant design changes without extending the design schedule.

Find Out When Autodesk Fixes Your Bugs

Autodesk's Customer Error Reporting makes it easy for you to send in details of software errors to Autodesk programmers, who then locate, prioritize, and fix the problems.

For the first time, Autodesk automatically notifies you when your software errors are fixed and is included in a maintenance release of the product. To learn more about CER, go to www.autodesk.com/cer.

Independent Software Vendors

Autodesk has a new name for the Americas Channel Organization team, called the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Program, to replace the old name for its third-party software developers-- OEM/UAR/SI Program.

Autodesk offers three types of ISV Partnerships:

  • Bundle -- formerly UAR
  • Build -- formerly OEM
  • Integrate -- formerly Solution Integrators.

Organized by industry, the ISV Program supports Infrastructure, Manufacturing, and Building Solutions, and requires third-party developers to complete an application and authorization process.

Tips and Tricks

ARX_ERROR When Opening Drawings
Applies to AutoCAD 2004 - 2006

When you open drawings in AutoCAD, it displays one of these error messages:

  • ARX_ERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass
  • ARX ERROR: eDuplicateKey

The error message appears because the drawings contain objects from the latest version of Architectural Desktop that could not be interpreted with the previous version of the Object Enabler. Three Object Enabler Hotfixes have been released to prevent these errors.

For AutoCAD 2004: usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL7047389

For AutoCAD 2005: usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL7047376

For AutoCAD 2006: usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL7047371

Revit Performance and License Problems

Autodesk has discovered a problem that affects Revit Building 9 and Structure 3 files that use links, which affects performance. In addition, an issue within cascading network licensing for the AutoCAD Revit Series products was discovered when only the Revit-based product was installed from the Series bundle -- a condition found to prevent license access.

New build numbers containing corrections for each software product are available for download. Go to:

Select Data & Downloads > Product Download and then follow the instructions.

Zoom Limited in DWG TrueView
Applies to AutoCAD 2006-2007

When you try to zoom out in DWG TrueView, it reaches a point where it could not zoom out any farther. The status bar displays the following message:

  • Already zoomed out as far as possible

The solution to this problem is to switch between Layout and Model tabs once to force a regeneration of the drawing.

AutoCAD Won't Run After Registry Cleaning
Applies to AutoCAD 2007

When AutoCAD fails to start after registry cleaner is run, such as Norton System Works, you received the following error messages:

  • Program A.EXE changed to ACAD.EXE
  • FATAL ERROR: Unhandled access violation Writing 0x0010 Exception at 7c918feah

The problem occurs because the registry cleaner removed registry keys that are required to run AutoCAD. To restore the required registry keys, you will need to reinstall AutoCAD using the Add/Remove Program functionality in the Control Panel.

Autodesk Supports 30,000 Robotics Students

For the 15th year in a row, Autodesk is providing $8 million worth of software and training to students participating in FIRST -- For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology -- Robotics Competition.

Autodesk provides 1,130 teams with Autodesk Inventor 3D mechanical design software and 3ds Max 3D modeling, animation, and rendering software. The final championship took place in Atlanta, Georgia last month.

"Autodesk has been with us since the beginning and continues to encourage students to learn about math, science and engineering, as well as inspire the inventors and engineers of tomorrow," said Dean Kamen, founder of FIRST.

This year's challenge theme, "Aim High," tests the students' and their robots' ability to fire foam balls through hoops, plow them into floor goals, and program a robotic vision system to navigate the robot.  www.usfirst.org

In the World of 3D

Autodesk recently launched a Center of Excellence (CoE) in Architecture Design at Sir JJ College of Architecture, in Mumbai, India. A similar CoE at the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi is also being planned. Autodesk also aims to create more CoEs in India for industrial design, construction management, animation and special effects.

The center consists of a laboratory equipped with the latest version of Autodesk's 3D design software for the architecture, urban design, building technology and industrial design industries. The center serves as a learning center to educate faculty and students on the use of 3D model-based design software such as Revit Building, Civil 3D, and Inventor.

Rajiv Nair, regional head, Autodesk India said, “With India fast emerging as a large design outsourcing hub, there is an immediate need to equip the country's current generation of architects on 3D concepts. Autodesk is in a strong position to work with influential architecture institutes, developing curriculum and courseware to equip tomorrow's workforce with design technologies and best practices.” -- reported by CIOL and The Hindu.
